Remembrance Day (also known as Poppy or Armistice Day) is a day dedicated to the remembrance of all of the mend and women who died in World War 1, however it has recently become a day to remember all of the men and women who have died during service for the United Kingdom. Remembrance day is held on the 11th of November at 11am as that was the official date that World War 1 ended. Since Remembrance Day began it has had a iconic symbol of the red poppy due to the Poem "In Flanders Fields" by Wilfred Owen, a famous war poem from World War 1. The poem refers to the red poppies that grew on the battlefields after a battle had ended and represents the blood that had been spilled. |
