10/05/2011 With summer fast approaching it turns out that thanks to the Romans they set the trend for wearing socks and sandals. A look now worn by embarrassing dad's and grandad's across the UK. The legendary Roman's favoured wearing socks with their sandals as discovered by an excavation carried out in North Yorkshire, where a rusty nail from a gladiator sandal appeared to have fibres attached to it indicating a sock like clothing material.
09/05/2011 Google Doodle is today celebrating the 76th birthday of Roger Hargreaves, the author who created the very popular Mr Men and Little Miss books. Not only did Roger Hargreaves write the story lines and create the characters, he even did all of the illustrations himself. The series of books have sold over 85 million worldwide, and have been translated into 20 languages. These popular and silly characters have now been around for 25 years!
